Introduction.
Psychology studies not only prepare you for a long-term career, but will also help you understand yourself and others, to see the world from a new and different vantage point.
Although the IE University degree will allow you to specialize on any psychology-related field, it does put special emphasis on issues related to people in organizations, be they business or otherwise. The field of Psychology translates into great careers in the job market, especially in what is known as Organizational Clinical Intervention: workplace health and well-being, workplace-related disorders, coaching and counseling, forensic analysis, etc.
The Psychology degree is generic enough to lead the way to any type of postgraduate program and will prepare you for clinical work, community intervention or workplace and human resource activity.
What makes us different
In the workplace from the outset
To supplement your academic training with the development of skills that give you an edge in the market, we offer the following programs:
Beyond academics: living your profession through the Mentor Plan
The Mentor Plan is a key part of the IE School of Psychology curriculum. Students have access to a comprehensive network of mentors, academic and professional, who will advise you on your studies and your career planning. This mentoring is much more than just a place for questions and answers. It gives meaning to the study of various subjects and helps broaden your interests. It allows you to have in-depth discussions with a small group of colleagues and experts in the fields which you study each year. With them, you will find out what counseling is all about, and you will learn to forge your own counseling style, an essential component of your career as a psychologist.
Career Opportunities
Psychologists are increasingly present in professional spheres: consumer market and advertising analysis, business consultancy, organizational and community intervention, people management, personal counseling, forensic analysis, etc. All these fields offer careers for psychologists.
Our curriculum, therefore, has three career tracks:
- Clinical intervention and counseling
The clinical world extends increasingly beyond pathological disorders, requiring psychologists to handle problems such as stress, professional disorientation and career path management, coaching, workplace health, etc. This path prepares you for postgraduate studies as an expert in clinical intervention in any of these areas of your choice.
- Management
If you are interested in business management, this track focuses on psychological aspects of managers, corporate leadership and operation, and especially the role of human resources.
- Consulting and research
This track lets you explore the tasks of analysis, experimentation and research, foundational blocks for academic careers (via obtaining a Ph.D.) or more hands-on areas such as market research, advertising and organizational and strategy consulting.
The IE Psychologist
Graduates of the IE School of Psychology possess a deep knowledge of their professional environment, with a wide of array of career opportunities to choose from. Whether as part of an organization or as private practitioners, they will be equipped with the skills to interact efficiently with others in a unique professional style, performing their work with judgment and a respect for social ethics. You will become a strong, creative and entrepreneurial professional for the rest of your life, thanks to the intense individual and group work, the exposure to a variety of disciplines, the focus on humanities, and the academic and human relationship with professors and psychology experts.
