MGeog with Planning is an exciting new programme offered for the first time this year. It offers the opportunity to take three years of courses from the bachelor/bachelorchelor Geography programme and then a specialist fourth year in Planning which leads to a Master of Geography with Planning qualification that aims to provide students with an understanding of the full range of professional skills and knowledge relevant for future careers in planning practice. The programme is expected to be fully accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). Unlike freestanding RTPI accredited masters programmes, all four years of this programme are eligible for student loan support.

AQA bachelorcc with Distinction
Distinction Distinction Distinction
Applications are considered on an individual bachelorsis. Overall, 60 credits are required with 45 at level 3. Minimum of 30 credits with a Distinction grade, plus 15 credits with a Merit grade.
The University welcomes applicants with the AP qualification. Such applications will be considered on an individual bachelorsis.

The University of Manchester welcomes the introduction of the level 3 specialised diplomas. We look forward to providing guidance regarding progression opportunities and subject and grade requirements when further details on equivalences are published
If you have followed a non-standard educational route and have been, for example, educated at home, your application will be considered against the standard entry criteria of the course to which you applied. You will be required to demonstrate that you meet the academic entry requirements as specified for the course. We will also require a reference which should be written by somebody who knows you well enough, in an official capacity, to write about you and your suitability for higher education. Students whose first language or language of instruction is not English may be asked to provide evidence of fluency in English by achieving scores in English language tests as follows: IELTS 6.5 overall, 6.5 in writing, no sub-section below 6.0, TOEFL iBT overall score of 90 with a minimum score of 22 in writing and 20 in the other subsections, Pearson PTE overall score of 62 with a minimum score of 62 in writing and 55 in the other subsections or Cambridge CAE grade A or Cambridge CPE grade C.
Some English language test results are only valid for two years. Your English language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.

We may require you to attend an interview at the School following consideration of your application.
If you applied in the previous year and your application was not successful you may apply again. Your application will be considered against the standard course entry criteria for that year of entry.  In your new application you should demonstrate how your application has improved.  We may draw upon all information from your previous applications or any previous registrations at the University as a student when assessing your suitability for your chosen course.If you are applying for a place for the same year of entry through UCAS Extra, you should provide additional evidence of your suitability for the course. If you are applying through clearing you are required to meet the clearing requirements. In both UCAS Extra and clearing the places will be subject to availability.
Course details

The Herbertson Geography Award
A number of £1,000 cash bursary on registration, in recognition of outstanding performance at A-Level, International bachelorccalaureate and GCSEs, or equivalent qualifications.
No application for the bursary required - all entrants are automatically assessed on the bachelorsis of their academic performance and UCAS application.
