The 1st year has been prepared to provide students with a basic knowledge and understanding of all aspects of: The Design Process, the Technical Drawing and the ComputerSkills. To achieve this, the course content encourages the students to acquire a comprehensive means of expressing their ideas. Course work takes the form of Design Projects, which require students to research, organize, sketch, prepare professional drawings and then present their projects in a professional way to a deadline. Presentations are held in front of teachers and fellow students and discussed.

Projects are in structured stages, introducing each of the basic skills and knowledge, necessary in all fields of Design.

Presentation - Students are guided towards a systematic way of presenting finished work to clients. This includes the understanding and use of equipment and facilities, which can be of help in preparing finished work. Included are: Internet research, libraries, photography, photocopiers, types of paper and presentation folders. Students are also required to present finished projects in a way which reflects different designer / client situations.

Computer programs taught in the first year: Auto CAD, 3D MAX, Photoshop and illustrator. The students are being taught in the programs to a high or medium level already during the first year of study.
