International Symposium on Neurorehabilitation. From basics to future. October 2009.
Welcome
Dear colleagues,
The high incidence of acquired brain injury in society represents an increasingly complex health issue worldwide. Although over the last few years our understanding of the mechanisms underlying recovery from an acquired brain injury have improved, there is still room for new and more efficient treatment strategies.
The “International Symposium on Neurorehabilitation” aims to promote the exchange of information and ideas and to facilitate the use of new technologies in the field of neurorehabilitation. In this way, the main objectives of the symposium can be summarized as follows:
► Update healthcare professionals on the current state of neurorehabilitation
● World reknown experts and researchers in the fields of cognitive and motor rehabilitation, virtual rehabilitation, patient assessment, behavioural science, neuroplasticity, neuroimaging and neural repair will participate in the symposium.
● Presentations from attendees to gain an insight into the research activities of neurorehabilitation professionals worldwide.
► Encourage the use of technology to improve the outcomes obtained from neurorehabilitation treatments.
● A majority of the over 300 attendees will be healthcare professionals with a great interest in applying new technologies to improve existing treatments.
● Exhibitors from research centres, companies and universities will attend to showcase the latest advances in technology applied to neurorehabilitation.
By bringing together healthcare professionals, researchers and engineers, the “International Symposium on Neurorehabilitation” intends to facilitate a unique and multidisciplinar approach to collaboration for the benefit of patients.
