The MSc Mental Health and Substance Use (Dual Diagnosis) programme aims to:

Demonstrate mastery in Mental Health and Substance Use (Dual Diagnosis) related skills and knowledge in order to contribute to enhanced professional practice and service development in this field

Stimulate and foster leadership skills in the area of mental health and substance use (Dual Diagnosis) service and practice development

Facilitate the acquisition, critical understanding and utilisation of advanced research skills and knowledge in order to conduct Mental Health and Substance Use (Dual Diagnosis) Research.

Requisitos: Interviews, entrance tests, portfolios and auditions Entry onto this course does not require an interview, portfolio or audition.

Related Modules: Please note that students who register for the MSc must have successfully completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Dual Diagnosis or been successful at an APL claim, and thus will carry forward 60 credits at Level 7.

MSc Year 1 Autumn term and winter/spring term

IPL4100 Leadership for Public and Community services (15 credits at level 7) and
IPL4200 Service Development and Quality Improvement (15 credits at level 7)
IPL4001Social Research Methods (30 credits at level 7) is running in the autumn term only
Or a chore of WBS4630 Advanced Practitioner Enquiry (30 credits at level 7) which is running three times a year campus or by distance learning.
Both of the above modules run in the autumn term and can be studied on campus or by distance learning.

MSc Year 2 Autumn term and winter/spring term

IPL4095MSc Dissertation (60 credits at level 7), or
WBS 4760Negotiated Work based learning project (60 credits)

Each module involves variety of assessments including coursework, reports, case studies, viva voce assessment, critical appraisal of leadership and service related research projects.

Students enrolled on distance learning modules will access the course learning materials and discussions via the University's student portal and virtual learning environment, Unihub which is available 24/7. Tutorial support will be provided via email, telephone and video conferencing to all distance learning students during term time.
