Area Seminars are available in the following areas:

These courses and seminars are offered in accordance with the students' areas of academic interest and specialization. In addition, candidates take a reading seminar in their chosen fields under the supervision of their Special Field Advisors.

Research seminars are held every two weeks. They take place in the afternoon of a 'reading day' and are led by faculty from IESE and other business schools.

Special Field Examination

Upon completion of the advanced and specialized courses and seminars, students are required to submit two papers: one, a paper on general aspects of the student's chosen field, the other, an in-depth study of a specific topic of the student's choice within that field. Both documents will be evaluated by a panel of three professors appointed by the Doctoral Program Committee, and presented to them in the context of an oral field exam.

Doctoral Thesis

Having completed all course work and passed the field examination, students draft and submit a thesis proposal. Once approved, students proceed to research, write and ultimately defend their theses.
