Summer Course in Fashion Trends Investigation

The course uses a three-step process: Scanning and gathering. Students practise primary and secondary research techniques, observing the first signs of change. Connecting and verifying. Empirical research exercises lead to connecting the dots of the information that has been gathered. Implementing and generating. Final conclusions are formulated and methods and means of presenting work are experimented with.

This intensive course is designed for curious minds who want to explore the world of trend research and forecasting in the physical, digital and phygital spaces. Trend research is a highly valuable skill in the job market. While the programme focuses on the field of fashion, the practical tools and methods taught are highly applicable to any industry.

Over the course of three weeks, you will explore a field of great strategic value for the company, especially in the current context, which is subject to rapid and constant change. The course is designed to enable you to apply the knowledge you acquire in a practical way, concluding your training with the development of a final project. With the help of a teaching team and a group of guest international professionals, you will navigate your way through learning fundamental theories, methods and tools through workshops, visits and practical exercises. All of this will take place in the creative microcosm of the IED Campus and in Barcelona, a city renowned for design and innovation.
