You will also:

  • Collaborate on practical projects at LIPA
  • Explore ways to secure funding for your own project
  • Complete a management project

You will be building contacts right from the start, and gain insights into the industry through working closely with students studying across a range of design, technical and performance disciplines during your first year.

Year 2

In your second year you will extend your management knowledge and acquire new skills. The course covers:

  • Preparation for professional life (employed or self-employed)

As well as learning more about the management of music, theatre, dance and entertainment, you will also apply your knowledge in a practical way by leading a practical management project. Projects vary widely, including events such as the Graduation Ball and Contemporary Issues in Management conference, shows such as the Charity Gala and Groove on the Green, and other activities such as marketing LIPA shows or running LIPA radio.

A key element in the third year is the Arts Manager module. Students undertake a three month work placement at an organsiation of their choice. In recent years, students have worked at organisations including Comic Relief; Northern Broadsides Theatre Company; Sony BMG; Universal Music; Liverpool Philharmonic; Carling Academy; Live Nation; Oakengates Theatre; Liverpool Novas Arts Centre; Birds Eye Film Festival; and Double Jab Productions.

In addition to the Arts Management module, third year students:
